Italy Real Contenders Not A Dark Horse, After the 3-0 win over Turkey In Euros 2020

 Roberto Manchini's Italy Made A Statement With A 3-0 Win over Turkey In the Opener of EUFA Euros 2020

Failing to qualify for the Worldcup in 2018, and now to be a contender for the Euros 2020, Italy have come a long way. And the credit for this turnaround goes to Roberto Manchini. The 3-0 win over Turkey extended the Azzuri's unbeaten streak to a 28 games, a massive confidence booster for the squad and with the win the matches coming ahead will be more interesting by this Italian side.

The Italian media back in 2018 when the team failed to qualify for the World Cup summed as "the end" and many of them headlined their articles as "the Apocalypse". Though times for the Italian side but on came Roberto Manchini and the project which he undertook and shaped is now bearing fruit at last. Manchini notably is has won silverware with Man City and Inter, he also won Coppa Italia with Fiorentina and Lazio, to speak highly of his managerial stint he also did not have biggest of football player playing in his sides.

aManchini's rebuilding process has not been a conservative with team only focusing  on the defensive aspects and counter attacking gameplay to go with it. This was quiet evident in their display with the win over Turkey, the team does not have a natural striker to say, though they have C.Immobile up front who did have a good start to tournament with a goal and an assist. 

The team build out from the back and had wing back high up the field, Spinazzola had a great game at the left back position, mid-field also had players like Barella and Jorginho who controlled the midfield, Jorginho has turned out to be a key player and will be full of confidence after the Champions league triumph with Chelsea. The team is well balanced with old heads like Chiellini and Bonucci at the heart of the defence and young guns like Donorumma, Locatelli, Barella and Chiesa at their disposal.

It sure will be a test for Italian team who will have to muster more courage against prominent sides like Germay, France and England deep into the competition. Though they will have to toughen up their defensive set up as they have ageing pair of defenders. Manchini will have to tactically make changes to his side as they move ahead in the tournaments and with a squad with such depth and qualities.

Needless to say they are not a dark horse anymore and will be looked upon by teams differently, Manchini has brought the team back to a competing levels and surely they will the eyeing the top prize as the champions of the Euros 2020, and bring back the glory days to Italy.
