UEFA Champions league : New Format and its cons
The UEFA announced a new format for the Champions league amid the Super League drama which is set to take place from 2024
- The first slot will go to the club ranked third in the league table and fifth in the association of the UEFA rankings
- The second slot goes to a domestic champion after expanding the "champions path" from our clubs to five
- The third and the fourth slots go to the two clubs with highest club coefficients that have not qualified automatically for the league stages of the Champions league
- The major changes will be the round of 16, with top 8 teams will go in the last 16, but teams 9-24 will enter a playoff round. Teams 9-16 will be seeded, and 17-24 won't be. The teams who lose the playoffs enter the Europa league, while those finishing 25 and below are booted from the competition.
With all the Super League stuff going on... can we please also speak about the new Champions League format? More and more and more games, is no one thinking about us players?

The new UCL format is just the lesser of the two evils in comparison to the Super League...
The German International went on saying " More and more games, is no one thinking about us players, The UCL format right now works great and that is why it's the most popular club competition in the world for us players and fans"
Obviously such a move would see an increase number of games and viewership of the matches but this could have a toll on the players health which was exactly the point of Ilkay Gundogan, UEFA will have to lookout for the players or the situation could turn out dire with rise of the players association which has had the seeds sowed due to the number of games players are already playing in this season due to Pandemic.
