Barcelona's Free Summer Transfer Policy Explained

 Barcelona Are Active In The Transfer Window, even bagging Players & Deals that too without spending a dime

Barcelona without a doubt needs a boost to its current squad of players and so to much surprise to many of the Barca fans, Barcelona have been active in the summer window and what's more surprising is that, Barca are getting players for free. Yeah it may seem strange to you, but until now the players Barcelona have had deals done are free agent (players who are out of contract thus the suitors of these players do not need to pay the club from which the player is coming).

Do remember Barcelona are in one of the worst economically hit clubs across the Europe due to the Global Pandemic, with debts over $1 billion over Barcelona which are due to pay. So a move like this does make sense for Barcelona board, Newly appointed President Juan Laporta after his victory did assure Barcelona fans of some major summer signings, well this is not exactly the plan many thought of. 

Being in debt and in major financial crisis Barcelona fans even in their wildest dream could not see a signing of major talents such as Mbappe, E.Haaland or Hary Kane, but neither the fans expected to get the left overs in form of free agents, well lets take a look on if these signings made official how would these players gel into the current Barcelona team.

1 .Sergio Aguero - Striker, Well one thing Barcelona needed the most was a proper No 9, after the departure of L.Suarez who went on to win the La Liga and perhaps S.Aguero is the answer. A Man City Club legend who has scored a staggering 184 goals for his club, Aguero has the CV to land at Camp Nou, but bare in mind that S.Aguero was out for almost whole season at City due to injuries and also he is an ageing striker currently 32, But if he were to stay fit and firing Barcelona does have a lethal weapon upfront and on top of that Aguero is Lionel Messi's best friend so he would not have to worry about getting along with everyone with Messi by his side.

2. Eric Garcia - Central Defender, this one can be a hit or a miss case for Barca. Eric Garcia is a La Masia graduate and then moved to City where he played a few games and now will be heading back to home in Spain, needless to say Barca needs defenders as fans would be sick of the sight of Lenglet and Pique being out of depth in the defense which has cost them a lot this season. This is nothing sure then a free hit and why not when you don't have to pay for the player its worth it.

3. Memphis Depay - Striker, If Barca fans needs to get excited about any of the transfer surely this one has to be it, Depay the Netherlands international is a talented playmaker turned striker and is out of contract at Lyon in France. Scoring 20 goals and 12 assist to his name this player has been on top form throughout the season and is looking for new home at Barcelona. Perhaps this is a gift as Barca will not have to spend a single dime on the player as he being a free agent this summer. The player is well known by current manager Koeman from his international duties and this is the prospect to look highly off in coming months. Hope Barcelona secures this deal.

4.G.Wijnaldum - Midfielder, Though Barcelona's midfield looks impressive on paper there are few cracks which needs to be filled, D.Jong and Pedri does have good eye for attacking plays but defensive transition is not the best of traits for both these players, this is where Wijnaldum can come in handy, free agent from Liverpool this summer and remember he played a major role in UCL triumph and Premier league champions team. So this signing does make sense and what a bargain in this market where players are priced at a premium and huge sums of transfer fee.

All of these can be a reality when official confirmation by Barcelona is made, but do not forget the bigger picture here as Barcelona are yet to confirm contract extension of Lionel Messi and which is the priority right now. It will be interesting how these players will get in the team and what impact will such signings make at Barca only time will tell.
