Juventus Keep Their Champions League Hopes Alive Beating Inter At Home
Juventus Scrapped out a win from the clutches of Internazionale at home to keep their Champions league football hope alive for next season
Derby d'Italia lived upto its hype when Juventus hosted the Serie A Champions Internazionale a match which was crucial for the Bianconeris to stay in the fight for top 4 place in league table to qualify for the Champions league. The game had goals, Red Cards, Late Drama, the game had it all. But it was Juventus who came on top with a late penalty goal by J. Cuadrado in he 88th minute which proved to be the match winner and maybe have kept Juve's hope bright for a positive top 4 finish until the end of the season.
The game plan for Pirlo's team was to come out and attack Inter and so they did with few good chances falling to them but Juve failed to capitalize them until Darmian fouled Chiellini in the box which was spotted by VAR and after an on field review by the Ref Juve were awarded a Penalty. Up stepped C. Ronaldo who's initial spot kick was saved by Handanovic but the rebound was struck back in the net much to the disappointment of Inter's Goalkeeper. The game was played on high intensity at both the ends Inter looking to hit Juventus on the counter but a similar incident of Penalty appeal was made by Inter's Lautaro Martinez in Juve's Penalty box and yet again after an on field review by match official a Penalty was awarded to Internazionale, Lukakau equalized for Inter in 35th minute 1-1 on the night, but this was not the last twist in the first half as Cuadrado for Juventus struck a sweet strike at Inter's goal which took a deflection and in the back of the net, 2-1 for Juventus at the stoke of Hlaftime.
The second half was no different but tackles flew all around the pitch, more physical battle was clearly at display from both the side which took its toll when Bentancur was sent off with a Red card following a second yellow for a foul, this seemed like a turning point of the match and Inter turned the screw and applied pressure Juve were left with 10 men on pitch. The pressure applied by Inter gave them the result when Chiellini in tussle to stop Lukaku from scoring the goal turned the ball in the back of his own net, after which the Juventus Captain protested in appeal to have a look for a possible foul on him for the goal, the match Refree was obliged yet again for the on field review but the decision was the same, goal for Internazionale 2-2 on the night in the 83rd minute.
But the game was far from over and done with, as Juve threw the kitchen sink at Inter in the dying stages of the game which paid off when a controversial decision by VAR was given in favour of Juve in the 88th minute, a penalty for Juve to lead on the night and get the most important 3 points on the night, Ronaldo stepped aside and on came Cudrado who stoked the penalty past Handanovic and gave Juve the most important goal so far for their campaign against their Rivals. Juventus lead by 3-2 on the night with 10 men, in their dying efforts to equalize Inter were defensively open result of which Brozovic took out Cuadrao who was up for a counter attack, Brozovic was penalised for second yellow resulting in a Red. The game ended 3-2 for Juve at the night with both sides leaving the pitch with 10 men.

With this win Juventus have entered 4th place in the league table with 75 points but Napoli have a game in hand and can possibly put Juve down if they were to gain all 3 points from their game against Fiorentina, AC Milan who are 3rd with 75 points also have a game in hand to play and can again increase a gap of 3 points between them and Juvetnus with a win, though the win was crucial for Juve but they now have to count on Napoli and Milan to drop points in order for them to qualify for Champions league places, the battle for Champions league places are far from over and it will go down to the wire up until match 38 in the Serie A to decide who shall be booking their places in the Champions league next season.
C.Ronaldo has 29 league goals in Serie A this season but still Juve as a team has failed to produce the usual top quality football and find themselves in this situation, questions have to be raised whether was it too early to appoint A.Pirlo as the Juventis Head Coach, also remember the club owner Agnelli was the one who initiated the Super League Idea which surely looks like a absolute joke of a league with possibilities of Juventus playing in Europa League next season if they fail to get in top 4 in Serie A league table.
